Lip Sync

Here is the last tutorial we had to complete before midterms. It is an example of a lip sync. To create it, I had to create a character and their appropriate mouths for replicating the various syllables a person creates during speech. Before I did anything, I had to find a certain sound clip that I wished to replicate. I found a Halo 2 sound clip of Cortana talking to Masterchief.

Walk Cycle

Below is an example of a walk cycle. In this particular walk cycle, I made my character have a limp. I had to complete the animation using a cut-out approach. I found an image on the Web and then imported it into Flash. I traced the bitmap and cut out each moving part. I then added key frames to my time line and moved the parts respectively.

Rotoscoping 2

Here is the Rotoscoping 2 tutorial. This time I had to find my own footage and then trace over that.

Digital Puppet 2

Down below is a digital puppet I made in Flash. It's a jack-in-the-box. I first drew the character in a sketch book, then scanned it in, traced it in Illustrator, and lastly imported it into Flash. There I colored it and separated the different parts, like the head and neck. I then completed the animation.

Rotoscoping

Here is an example of rotoscoping. This was a tutorial assignment where I had to import footage I was given from the instructor and using the tools inside of Flash I traced each frame one by one.

Script

I am working on my script for my final project at the moment. I should have it up by midweek. I am going to have script start off with announcers introducing themselves. One of them will introduce the final five dogs at the last table of the 2008 World Series of Poker.

Digital Puppet

Below is an animation of a clown jumping. I colored the scanned image and grouped the head and the neck to create the motion tweens.

Simple Ball Bounce #2 -- Graph

Now here is a ball bounce I created in Flash using the ease in/out graph editor:

Premise for Final

For my final project in ANIM 342, Digital Cel Animation, I am going to do a spoof on the famous painting, "A Friend in Need." If you are not familiar with the painting, it is of dogs playing poker. I am going to implement a spin on it though. I am going to have the dogs appear as if they are part of the final table at the World Series of Poker. I am going to have it appear like it is airing on ESPN, with commentators adding their unique play-by-play of the action. I would like to animate this using a cut-out animation approach, similar to South Park. Instead of using the ESPN name, I am going to come up with my own sports channel to steer-clear of any copyright issues.
